Wooden Nickel Lottery is a blues/rock band full of power, chops and soul to satisfy fans of blues/rock. Fronted by Rick Gallo’s energetic and soulful vocals, WNL plays a mix of powerful original blues/rock as well as classic and contemporary blues/rock covers. Guitarist and band songwriter Rich Toomsen keeps it lively with a steady stream of guitar licks. Jess Toomsen brings her special flavor of solid low end to the mix on the bass while Delayne Stallman locks in a steady groove on drums. The group’s sonic influences include Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton and Johnny Lang, but draw on the grooves of funk rock with the heart of a true blues jam band.

WNL has been paying their dues in Eastern Iowa since forming in 2013, although all members have been performing and working their craft for many years. Wooden Nickel Lottery was a finalist in the 2015 Iowa Blues Challenge. Wooden Nickel Lottery has performed on Iowa Public Radio’s Java Blend, as well as IPR’s Studio One Tracks. WNL has opened for acclaimed blues artists Anthony Gomes and Samantha Fish at the Redstone Room in Davenport. Expect a solid, high energy show of blues/rock music, chock full of guitar riffs, groovin’ songs and rousingly expressive lead vocals.
